The United States’ top environmental regulator is questioning whether sewage being processed by the Town of Jackson wastewater treatment plant is leaching into Flat Creek, the stream that meanders through Jackson and South Park before passing the plant and dumping into the Snake River. The Environmental Protection Agency isn’t the only one concerned. Protect Our Water Jackson Hole has obtained data from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality showing high levels of ammonia, a chemical present in human urine that can kill fish, from 2007 to 2012 in groundwater downstream of the plant.
