Protect Our Water Jackson Hole believes the Town of Jackson’s proposed updates to Section 5.1.1 fall short of providing the strong protections needed for local waterways and wetlands. Current setback distances remain largely unchanged despite ongoing water quality concerns, particularly on Flat Creek, an impaired waterbody. POWJH is urging the Town to strengthen stream and wetland buffers, close broad exemptions for wetland impacts, and adopt clearer, more protective standards to safeguard water quality and community health.
On July 20, the town council will consider proposals to strengthen waterway setback standards standards. Community advocacy will be critical to ensuring stronger protections for Jackson’s waterways and wetlands.
