WYDOT contractor was ‘late’ on bridge work stormwater permit

A Wyoming Department of Transportation contractor was “late” getting a stormwater permit for rebuilding the Snake River bridge and a nearby intersection, drawing scrutiny from Teton County water quality advocates. Stormwater permitting for large construction projects is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, but in Wyoming, the state DEQ administers the permits. Heilig said he’s been on a “mini-campaign” for the past year to check whether companies are appropriately obtaining stormwater permits. He said four of five construction projects he’s looked into have not.
