Fish Creek

Fish Creek in Wilson, Wyoming, is part of the Snake River watershed, and is a serene waterway known among locals for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities — especially fly fishing and tubing.

The creek flows through the heart of Wilson, making it a connector for the community, and supports a diverse ecosystem, with its clean, cold waters providing a habitat for various species of fish, other aquatic life, birds and mammals, particularly Moose.

Protect our Water Jackson Hole was first founded in 2014 as Friends of Fish Creek to address growing concerns over the noticeable changes in the freestone stream; namely the extreme abundance of moss and algae, which negatively affects insect and aquatic species life, and consequently impacts the entire ecosystem.

POWJH has since implemented studies to identify sources of nutrient pollution and E. Coli Fish Creek and implemented key programs to limit nutrient pollution as the area undergoes increasing development.
